PT. Nuvotek is a subsidiary of PT. Duta Laserindo Metal (DLM), operating as a Software as a Service company. Our flagship product, Disiplean, was born from real-world experience tackling challenges on DLM's own production floor.
DLM has been operating in the sheet metal fabrication industry since 1997, with locations in Surabaya, Solo, and Cikarang. DLM is a subsidiary of PT. Guna Elektro, an electrical distributor founded in 1975. PT. Guna Elektro is one of the pioneers of Indonesia's electrical distribution industry and was a market leader through the 1980s and 1990s.
In 2019, DLM began its digital transformation journey with a more holistic, employee-centered approach. Previously, we had failed in transformation efforts because we focused too much on new technology without preparing people for change. We had also spent significant amounts on consulting, but the results didn't last. Worse, the technology we adopted couldn't be used optimally because the organization lacked discipline in collecting and managing data.
Our digital transformation finally bore fruit in 2025, when DLM earned the INDI 4.0 certification from the Ministry of Industry. INDI 4.0 is a program designed to encourage industry players, particularly SMEs, to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies for improved efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.
This experience taught us that digitalization will not succeed without a strong foundation. That foundation is culture, transparency, collaboration, and seamless communication from the shopfloor to management. Through this journey, we built more than 20 digital applications to fill the gaps in our operational digitalization.
PT. Nuvotek's founders come from backgrounds in Social Sciences, Innovation Management, and Human-Centred Design. We understand that the key to successful digital transformation lies in cultural readiness for change.
Disiplean was developed considering the unique culture of Indonesian companies. Disiplean is not just a digitalization tool — it is a system to change behavior and work culture in measurable, sustainable ways. We adapt Lean Manufacturing and Organizational Management principles to fit Indonesian culture. One example is emphasizing gotong-royong (collective effort) and social sanctions over individualism and punishment.
Like DLM, other SMEs often lack mentors, guidance, or a clear roadmap for digital transformation focused on Organizational Change Management. Perhaps digitalization isn't seen as a priority, the long-term value isn't visible, or there are concerns about financial burden. But from our experience, the long-term effect of digital transformation is profound. It didn't just save our business — it made our organization future-ready and opened doors to new opportunities.
